Bluem chooses Securance for their ISAE 3402 journey

Bluem, a fast-growing fintech company specialising in payments, identity verification, affordability checks, and compliance, had a clear goal: get their processes in order and guarantee their efficiency with an ISAE 3402 assurance report. This wasn’t a client request but rather a proactive compliance journey they wanted to start.
When I started at Bluem, our CTO already had the idea to obtain an ISAE 3402 assurance report and create a consistent system of processes,” says Camila Pastor, Compliance and Business Specialist at Bluem. “We had bits and pieces all around, and ISAE 3402 became a great opportunity to streamline everything.”
Why Securance?
When comparing auditing firms, Bluem quickly noticed Securance was a bit different. Yes, there’s the audit, but Securance also includes a Performance Improvement Report (PIR), which goes beyond the formal checklist by suggesting tailor-made recommendations to each business.
“That was an important trade-off for us,” Camila explains. “We’re still building and formalizing a lot of processes, and having critical thinking alongside us was exactly what we needed.” For Bluem, it was valuable to have an external team look beyond the strict scope of the audit and share ideas for further improvements.
Speed also mattered. Bluem first contacted another firm, but… let’s just say the pace didn’t match their needs. “We kept calling and sending reminders, the crickets were singing, and nothing moved forward. With Securance, everything moved quickly. They immediately said they could work with our timeline, even though it was tight. From desk research to signing the deal only took a couple of weeks.”
A smooth audit experience
With the deal signed, the audit process kicked off and stayed on track. Bluem appreciated how Securance didn’t just point out issues but also suggested ways to fix them. “They supported us throughout the whole process, were very thorough, and most importantly, didn’t just tell us what was wrong, but they came up with solutions. It felt like we were thinking together on the future of Bluem.”
What about the disruption to the day-to-day routine, which an audit usually brings? Minimal. Only three people were needed to handle the audit work, leaving the rest of the team to focus on their day-to-day business. “For me, this was my project, so it didn’t affect my work too much,” Camila said, laughing: “Maybe ask Sales”. Wessel Soepboer, Sales representative at Bluem jumps in: “No, we knew we had to present documents and proof, and it matched our pace without disruptions.”
No surprises
In compliance, surprises are rarely welcome, and there weren’t any. “All Securance’s questions made sense and were in line with the control matrix. It felt structured and reliable, exactly what we hoped for.”
Bluem is now looking forward to completing their ISAE 3402 journey. As they put it: “The audit came with a bonus, we know now how and where we need to improve.”
